Zombie massacre using Unity3D and Kinect (amazing new video)

Kinect as a control device. This simple proof of concept shows some of its possibilities... and it is available for download!

"Obviously this is only a tech demo which would require fleshing out in nearly every direction for a full release -- from art through to gameplay there is a lot of room for improvement. We figured some people might be interested in giving this a crack however -- which is why we've made a download available at www.pixelninjagames.com"

Using Kinect to play Super Mario Bros... jump!

Body gestures are recognized and used to control Super Mario Bros running in a PC. As the author says:

Celebrating 25 years of Mario. I programmed it to recognize my motions and passed the virtual button presses to the NES emulator. I could have placed a simulated keypad right in front of me that I can press with my hands, but I thought full body gestures were more in the spirit.

And they are. The chosen gestures are more than adecuate to the game. However I cannot see me playing the difficult levels with this run, jump, run, jump, jump pattern.

First tries to control FPS with Kinect

Several gamers insist taht Kinect cannot be used to control certain types of games. However the author of this video does not think that way. Here we can see a primitive way of controlling Quake III using a kinect hack. Of course it needs to be polished, but maybe it is not such a bad idea after all.

Amazing!
